Night of Fire: Marysville, 2009
watercolour on paper
Collection of the artist
After the fire front had passed the burnt land flickered glowing red for much of the night.
I couldn’t understand how this was so as some of the red flickering objects such as the TV transmission tower seemed to burn all night; I later discovered it was the reflection of the fires. With this in mind and with the repeating images of crushed and crinkled burnt roofing iron I painted this hell like version of the fire in Marysville that night.
