Hidden Faces

THE 2022 VICTORIAN SALON DES REFUSÉS

ONLINE EXHIBITION

MELBOURNE : HIDDEN FACES showcases portraits by Victorian artists, originally submitted for a number of national portrait prizes, including the Doug Moran, Portia Geach, Shirley Hannan, MAMA Albury, Archibald & The Lester, which were either not hung in the ‘official’ exhibitions or shown in Melbourne.

Now well established in Melbourne’s arts calendar, Hidden Faces reveals a broad spectrum of entertaining, challenging & insightful paintings. Hidden Faces aims to provide Victorian artists with a platform to display their portraiture expertise.

Artists include: Daisy Birtchnell, Ross Cockle, Andy Comisso, Julian De Lio, Jeremy Elkington, Peter Ferrier, Louise Foletta, Janine Good, Jaq Grantford, Andrew Greensmith, Tessa Hubble, Kenneth S Hunt, Polly Ifould, Judy Mackintosh, John Mandich, Lana McLean, Joanne Morris, Louise Otten, Chris Seater, Todd Simpson, Mia Stylianou, Liz Sullivan, Caroline Thew, Jim van Geet, and Victoria Watts.

Normally the exhibition is on display at one of the top hotels in Melbourne’s CBD; however, due to the COVID-19 pandemic affecting us all, once again, the show is mounted online as a

virtual exhibition.

Curator/manager of Hidden Faces Exhibitions, Jacqueline Taylor OAM says, “ There is something new and different each year. The Victorian Salon des Refuses continues to

unveil the amazing portraiture talent in Victoria.”

The Exhibition is presented by OzLink Entertainment. Supporting sponsors are Seater Design and Peter Garnick Printmaker.

Hidden Faces follows in the long tradition of the French Impressionists of the 1860s who held a breakaway exhibition from the French Academy. The inaugural Salon des Refusés,

held in 1863 by command of Napoleon III, included works by acclaimed artists Edmund Manet, Camille Pissarro and Paul Cezanne. This 2022 show includes a diverse array of exciting, diverse, witty & experimental artworks by Victorian artists whose talent deserves to be seen and appreciated.

The People's Choice Award is a visitors’ favourite with prizes. Voting form available on the OzLink website www.ozlink.info.
